Why We Ship Every Title by FedEx

· Elite Auto Auctions

At Elite Auto Auctions, every vehicle title is shipped by FedEx — never by regular mail — and most customers can expect their title about two weeks after purchase. We know a title is one of the most important documents you will ever receive for a vehicle, so we handle it with the care it deserves. Here is how the process works, why it takes the time it does, and what happens in the rare case a title goes missing.

Why titles take about two weeks

The usual two-week window comes from the number of hands a title passes through before it reaches you. Each step is necessary to make sure the title you receive is correct and complete.

  1. The seller or insurance company sends the title. Many of our vehicles come from insurance companies and sellers, who must first locate and mail the original title to our independent title brokers.
  2. The broker receives, scans and processes it. Once the title arrives, the broker scans it, checks it and completes the paperwork needed to transfer it to you.
  3. We ship it to you by FedEx. As soon as processing is complete, your title is sent to you immediately by FedEx with tracking.

Most of this time is spent waiting on the first step, which is outside our direct control. We follow up with sellers and brokers to keep things moving as quickly as possible.

Why we only use FedEx

We ship every title by FedEx because it gives your title tracking and accountability from the broker's door to yours. Standard mail does not offer the same level of protection, and a lost title can delay your registration, resale or export by weeks.

Shipping titles this way is a significant expense for us. We cover it because we believe protecting your title is worth it — especially once you have been waiting for it.

If a title is ever lost

If a title is lost for any reason, a duplicate typically takes 30 to 45 days to obtain. This is one of the main reasons we never use regular mail: avoiding a lost title saves you from a much longer wait. If this ever happens with your title, our team will start the duplicate process right away and keep you updated.
